New Vegan Books!

Ok today I went to Borders (Oh how I’m going to miss that store T_T) There was still a ton of stuff there but there was that empty dieing feeling a feeling of a great thing is passing. Like how I would feel back in high school when after months of practice in Choir or months of work in Act 2 we would put on the performance and then there would be crying as we striked the set.

On a happier note I got two new Vegan books and a really nice note book which I think will be made into my food/ turning vegan journal.

First on on the list (snatched the only copy there) The Vegan Girl’s Guide to Life By Melisser Elliott

And the second one being ‘Vegan Freak: Being Vegan in a Non-Vegan World’ By Bob Torres & Jenna Torres

So I’ve already started in on the first book and I like it because although it has some great sounding recipes in it it’s not just a recipe book (like the vegan daily companion) and give you a ton of great information

So about a week ago while we were all at my moms I told her that I really want a huge batch of her very nummy grilled veggies ( zucchini, onion, mushrooms, yellow squash, all kinds of bell peppers, carrots) Well this morning Brian took Anya out to the store to run around and came home with a HUGE bag full of veggies haha. So while he took her out to the swings and checked the mail I cleaned up the cucumber, bell peppers, carrots, celery, broccoli, chives onions, and cut them all up lol. When he came back in he put them on our electric griddle with olive oil and himalayan pink salt, While i’m thinking you don’t put cucumber in grilled veggies LOL. Ends up it was delicious! haha I think I’m going to have it for tomorrows dinner as well.

A New Start

I’m going to start off with saying I haven’t gone total vegan YET however every week sees me reducing my non-vegan food and items a little more. We are moving on the 26th to a new apartment and besides concentrating on my daughter, crafts, art, blogs, Wii fit (sooo much fun), I’m going to really go full tilt at the vegan lifestyle. Though i do for see one stumbling block my love of spinning wool (and other animal derived fibers) into beautiful yarn……T_T I’m sure I can overcome it though and try with Cotton and Bamboo (we will see).

However it’s going to be a full new start to life it seems, I’ve been doing a lot of research and will be getting a subscription to VegNews come September (already have the July/Aug edition). I also have gotten some great books! Starting with a wonderful cook book referred to me by another wonderful vegan food blogger: Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook.

The two wonderful Vegan desert books by Hannah Kaminsky; Vegan Desserts: Sumptuous Sweets for Every Seasonand My Sweet Vegan: passionate about dessert.

and last but certainly not least by all means is the newest publication by Coleen Patrick-Goudreau; Vegan’s Daily Companion.

So I think I’m off to a good start and on top of all that Brian is in full support and wants to try it out too…. maybe has something to do with working at McDonald (horrible I know) has to do with it.

So between the 2 of us cooking and experimenting I should have plenty of nummy good things to blog about and share with you.
